武汉枫叶国际学校家长委员会成立

为了配合学校给孩子们创造更好的学习生活条件，在学校的积极筹办与大力支持下，武汉枫叶国际学校家长委员会于2012年2月11日正式成立，当日举行了家长委员会第一次会议。

家长委员会由一名会长、两名副会长和二十三名初高中家长委员组成。高中校长陈林生先生、初中校长袁清晨先生、总领事余文女士、副总领事马艾丽女士和家长委员会成员出席了本次会议。来自教育、食品安全、卫生、经济、法律等各行各业的委员们利用职业优势，讨论了校车、食堂、周末语言培训三个问题，其中校车是讨论重点。

通过会议及会议后的充分沟通，家长委员们在校车问题上达成共识，即由家长一一签署协议，委托学校代为签订接送学生的客运合同，在法律上家长们成为责任主体，学校做好相应的协助服务工作。

在食堂和周末语言培训问题上，家长与相关企业负责人面对面交流，了解信息，并充分提出优化建议。对于语言培训，希望新航道拿出更加适用于枫叶学生的课程；关于食堂，希望在配餐上，更多考虑营养搭配与青少年健康需求，在文化上尽快融入枫叶理念。

第一次家长委员会的圆满召开，预示着家校联合的优势将能实现最大化，预示着孩子们将在更加和谐的校园健康、快乐地成长。

WMLIS Parent Committee and its 1^st meeting

To provide a better learning and living environment for students, WMLIS Parent Committee was established on Feb. 11^th, 2012, which was arranged and highly supported by the school. The 1^st Committee Meeting was held on the same day.

The Parent Committee was made up of one President, two Vice Presidents and twenty-three parents from junior or senior high school. Mr. Chen Linsheng, Headmaster of Senior High School and Mr. Yuan, Principal of Junior High School, Ms. Wendy Yu, Counselor General and Ms. Maria Ma, Deputy Counselor General and members of the Parent Committee showed up. Committee members from all walks of life, such as education, food safety, hygiene, economy, law etc. discussed three topics, including the issues of school bus, cafeteria and language training before studying abroad. School bus issue is the focus of discussion.

Through communications, some basic consensus regarding school bus was reached. Parents expressed that they completely understood the risk and pressure the school was under in terms of the school bus service, but it was unrealistic to cancel it. So the compromise is each parent signs a contract entrusting the school to sign transportation contract with the bus rental company on behalf of parents, which should not only bring conveniences to students but also rapidly reduce risks for the school. In this way, the school just acts as an agent helping to conduct school bus service procedures and arrangement of school buses coming and leaving the school. Both contracts will be drafted by parents who are lawyers, which should pose no problem in legal safety.

In terms of cafeteria and language training before studying abroad, parents communicated directly with language training companies for the purpose of obtaining some information and offering suggestions. As for language training, it is hoped that New Channel would offer some programs that are more suitable for Maple Leaf students. Regarding the cafeteria, it is hoped that they would give more consideration to nutrition and health concerns of youth as well as would soon be integrated into Maple Leaf culture.

The success of the first meeting indicates that the establishment of the Parent Committee will be most profitable for the school and parents. Students will grow more happily in a healthy way, go abroad successfully to embrace the world, and make their dreams come true.
